While newly minted country music star and American rye whisky distiller Beyoncé was the undisputed star of the 67th annual Grammy Awards, held Sunday night at Los Angeles' Crypto.com Arena, it was Taylor Swift who caught more than a few eyes, with her choices both dress and bev.
The “Champagne Problems” writer was having none of those while taking in the show, toasting Jay-Z with a bottle of his own Armand de Brignac Ace of Spades Champagne when the man with "99 Problems"’ wife, Beyoncé, accepted her first Album of the Year honor, for Cowboy Carter. (When last we checked in with Jay and Bey, they were vacationing at Cheval-Blanc in Bordeaux, just FYI.)
Obviously Swift, previously seen sipping Gaslighter rosé and Honey Deuces at the U.S. Open, enjoyed herself immensely at the Grammys, despite not winning any of the categories in which she’d been nominated this year. But we couldn’t truly celebrate Swiftie Culture without entertaining a few conspiracy theories. For years now, devoted fans have found clues to the content of Swift’s forthcoming albums in her fashion choices, and last night the Swiftieverse was abuzz over her bright red dress and what it could mean… was Reputation coming soon?
In fact, it’s been confirmed now that Swift’s sparkling red Grecian-style mini-dress by Vivienne Westwood and letter T charm … thighlet(?) was in honor of boyfriend Travis Kelce’s upcoming Super Bowl contest, in which Kelce’s Kansas City Chiefs will be defending their title in a rematch with Pennsylvania-native Swift’s former favorite team, the Philadelphia Eagles.
What Is Taylor Swift Drinking at the Super Bowl?
Watch this space for real-time updates, but if Swift’s Grammy night dress and leg jewelry were in homage to the Chiefs, could her Champagne choice give us a clue to what she’ll be drinking—and who she’ll be drinking it with—at Super Bowl LIX in New Orleans this Sunday? We’re not saying that Jay-Z, Bey, Blue Ivy, Rumi and Sir will be bringing his Ace of Spades Champagne and her SirDavis whisky to Swift’s Super Bowl luxury box. But we’re not not saying it …
