As friends and family emerge from Dry January ready to socialize, it’s a good time to stock up on affordably priced reds and whites from France's Southern Rhône Valley. The region is a great source of crowd-pleasing wines, as our latest Tasting Highlights shows.
A stunning deal is the 2023 Pierre-Henri Morel white from Laudun; it's a fleshy, juicy, invigorating wine made from Grenache Blanc. Notably, with the 2024 vintage, the village of Laudun has been officially elevated to cru status, making it the 18th cru in the Rhône Valley, alongside Côte-Rôtie and Châteauneuf-du-Pape. So these wines may creep up in price with coming vintages.
This lineup also includes Domaine de la Charbonnière's Vacqueyras 2022, a top scorer, which shows cherry, tobacco and iron notes. Read on to get our score and full expert tasting note for this fantastic Southern Rhône wine and eight others.
