Zinfandel lovers may bicker over which style is the best: bold and ripe or elegant and claret-like. But our latest Tasting Highlights showcases a selection of new releases that offer something for every fan. And no matter which style you prefer, these Zins, mainly from the excellent 2022 vintage, all notched 90 points or more on our 100-point scale.
With the sole Zin from the 2021 vintage, Hendry is one of two wineries atop the list. The Hendry family has worked its Napa ranch for 85 years, and vineyards have been planted on the site since 1859. George Hendry was only two years old in 1939 when his parents bought the ranch, where he learned to prune orchards and grapevines (and also to tend the goats and cows). He's still involved in farming and winemaking today.
This lineup also includes Ridge's Pagani Ranch Norma's Block Sonoma Valley 2022, a potently structured red with blkacberry and spice notes. Read on to get our score and full expert tasting note for this fantastic California Zinfandel and six others.
