About Intermountain Media Systems
Intermountain Media Systems has been in business since 1964 and is one of the oldest audio and video systems dealers in the United States. We have continued in business for this many years by listening to our customers and then designing AV system solutions to their needs. Over the years, with invaluable input from our customers, we have designed, developed and manufactured our unique line of audio and video systems.
Our founder, Rex Schwendiman, got his start in the electronics field in the mid 1940’s. He was employed by the USAF building custom audio equipment. He was part of a team of electronic technicians that installed radar systems on the B29 bomber during World War II.
Richard Schwendiman, our President worked alongside with his father, Rex Schwendiman. Richard would work after school, and spent time in many positions within the company before his father passed over the reigns. He participated in the expansion of the business starting with earlier video systems and opened a regional office in Denver, Colorado. Richard was instrumental in the development of the audio/visual product line consisting of sound lecterns, and multimedia podiums which included complete audio/visual systems for conference rooms and classrooms. Richard negotiated and received, a GSA Contract for audio/visual systems for the Federal Government, in the year 2000. He continues to service that GSA contract today.
